Santiago, January 23, 2023 - AES Andes continues to make progress in the areas of diversity, integrity and equality, and this has been recognized by the government, through the Ministry of Women's Affairs and Gender Equality, with the award of the Iguala Conciliación (Equality Reconciliation) Seal.
This is an award given by the Ministry to organizations that implement systems for gender equality and work-life balance, as part of the Chilean Standard 3262, under which AES Andes was recertified at the end of last year, becoming the first company in the energy sector to achieve this standard.
The policy, also known as NCH 3262, is based on four pillars: gender equality, gender equality, reconciliation of family, work and personal life, and co-responsibility.
The CEO of AES Andes, Javier Dib, expressed his gratitude for the recognition and emphasized the company's commitment to continue promoting a permanent dialogue with its employees and to continue complying with the guidelines of the standard in order to meet the company's goal of achieving gender equality by the end of this decade.
The CEO explained that a key factor in the implementation of NCH 3262 was the commitment of the organization's top management, which made it possible to spread it throughout the Company. "This means being accountable in a concrete and transparent way for social and environmental impacts, as well as for the evolution of legal aspects in terms of gender equality and work-life balance," he said.
In practice, Dib explained that the attention to this issue is reflected in various advances, such as the company's current workforce, which is 17% female, almost double what it was in June 2019, while 26% of management positions are now held by women.
The certification comes on top of other awards the company has received in the area of labor and social affairs. It was recognized as one of the 10 best companies to work for in the country in 2022 and one of the 7 best companies for women, according to the Great Place To Work 2021 ranking.
Through its Diversity and Inclusion Policy, created in 2019, AES Andes adhered to the Gender Parity Index initiative promoted by the World Economic Forum and the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and currently continues to adhere to it, in addition to being part of the "Energía +Mujer" program under the Ministry of Energy.
