AES Andes receives recognition for environmental management of the Ventanas Power Plant in Puchuncaví

As a recognition of the improvement in its environmental management, the AES Andes Ventanas Power Plant received the R3 award, which the Nalco Water company of the multinational Ecolab gives to its clients.

The distinction highlighted the achievements of the thermoelectric complex in terms of its substantial savings in water, energy and cost consumption, which are not only significant for the operation, but also for the environment by reducing CO2 emissions.

The results reflect the implementation of a return on investment project for the plant located in Puchuncaví, in terms of improving the reliability, performance and productivity of the steam generation and energy production system, generating a considerable decrease in production costs. maintenance equivalent to more than a million dollars.

With this, it was possible to avoid the stoppage and breakage of assets that are fundamental for the operation and greater efficiency in the application of chemical treatments specific to the operation of the plant.

In terms of emissions reduction, a reduction is estimated that exceeds 22 thousand tons of CO2, which is equivalent to the consumption of more than 4 thousand cars for a year.

The distinction was received by the Director of Operations of AES Andes, Norberto Corredor. Also attending on behalf of the company were Rodrigo Rivera (Regional Purchasing Manager), Luis Marcelo Sepúlveda (Head of the Chemical Control and Water Management Department of the Costa Complex) and Ángel Muñoz (Direct Category Buyer).

Along with thanking the recognition, Norberto Corredor highlighted that “this award reflects our company's commitment to responsible environmental management that uses technology to care for the environment and people. Thanks to this process, we were able to reduce our emissions and generate greater efficiency of generation assets.”
