AES Andes Highlighted Solid Progress in the Implementation of its Greentegra Strategy
The Company, as of today AES Andes, reported on the progress of its renewable transformation strategy and its purpose to accelerate the future of energy together.
Santiago, April 23, 2021.- AES Gener continued to make steady progress in the implementation of its Greentegra transformation strategy during 2020, as reported by the Company’s CEO, Ricardo Manuel Falú, within the framework of the Ordinary Shareholders’ Meeting held today.
“The implementation of our Greentegra strategy, with concrete actions to accelerate the future of energy and combat climate change, is progressing rapidly. With the achievements to date, we have secured our transformation, increasing our renewable capacity by 165% by 2024 and accelerating the closure of the coal-fired plants to the earliest date the system allows, after meeting our contractual commitments.”
“We have managed to preserve the value of our contracts, reduce exposure to coal, strengthen renewable growth, have solid progress in the construction of our projects, ensure financing for green growth and accelerate the decarbonization of our portfolio,” Falú highlighted as the six main milestones of 2020.
The executive ended his presentation with the following messages:
“The COVID-19 pandemic has reminded us how vulnerable and fragile we are, but has also demonstrated how global threats and challenges can be addressed by working together in a coordinated response.”
“Accelerating the future of energy is more than our purpose, it is the mandate of our society. We are aware that our industry is going through very significant changes, and that the path to carbon neutrality is not without its challenges, but at AES Gener we do not see any future which is not 100% renewable.”
During the meeting, the shareholders of AES Gener approved all the matters falling within the jurisdiction of the Shareholders’ Meeting, including the Balance Sheet and Financial Statements for FY 2020, together with the distribution of dividends.
